Mystery Quilt

Join us for a fun-filled day to create your own variation of this 2-color mystery quilt that is spectacular when done.  Just choose a light and a dark fabric that you like and let us guide you step-by-step to the end.  Choose the date that works best for you:

 Girls Night Out

Come on over and enjoy an evening of sewing, visiting, and eating!  Bring your machine & supplies, a project to work on - start some thing new or bring one of your unfinished projects - and your beverage and a snack to share.  We’ll provide the pizza!  When? The last Friday of each month:

Basic I
This is the very basic beginning class - all you need is the desire to learn how to make your own quilts. This simple fence rail teaches you the basics of rotary cutting and strip piecing, as well as how to layer, bind and machine quilt.  Each series of classes begins with a “Pre-Basic” class where we will meet in the shop to select fabrics and discuss the tools required.  $80

It is important to bring your sewing machine to the pre-basic class - we will check it for 1/4” seam accuracy; we will discuss necessary quilting supplies and you will have time to purchase fabric and supplies for the first Basic I class.

Beginning Paper Piecing
Create accurate patchwork blocks by sewing onto paper foundations to create a small project. This class will teach you the very basics of this fun technique. $25

Machine Appliqué 
This class will teach you the basics for appliqué stitches on the machine (mock-hand, zig-zag, satin and buttonhole) so you will be confident in finishing your appliqué projects. Cost is $30 plus a $5 kit fee payable to instructor.

Machine Quilting/Free Motion
Learn to prepare your quilt to be quilted on your machine. You will learn how to use a walking foot and a free motion (darning) foot, how to mark your quilts and the different kinds of threads to use. If you’ve machine quilted before but lack the confidence or if you’ve never quilted your own tops, this is a great class for you to perfect your skills. $40 + kit fee

Raw Edge Appliqué
Choose your favorite pattern from a selected group of floral patterns and with fusible web you will create a wall hanging.  No hand appliqué here!  $35

Technique Sampler
The next step after the Basic I is to learn different techniques used in making quilts. This class will enhance your strip piecing skills and will teach you easy appliqué, triangles, flying geese and more.  Sew your blocks together and you will have a 16-block “Sampler” which finishes approximately 60” x 60”.  You can enlarge the size by adding more blocks, sashings and borders. You need to be an advanced beginner or have taken the Basic I class first before taking this class. $65

Thread, Needles & Rotary Cutting
Sharpen your skills with information about thread, needles and rotary cutting.  Are you confused about the different weights of threads, the many different sizes of needles to choose from, and even how to use your rotary cutter?  Then you'll learn a lot from this class!  $15

...and then make some fun projects!

Advanced Paper Piecing
Take your skills from the beginning paper piecing class to a new level to make a table topper project. Learn to read the paper piecing patterns or figure measurements on your own.  You will complete the project in class. $40

Bindings
Learn how to square up your quilt, measure for bindings and several ways to attach binding.  You won't have any unfinished quilts after this class!  $25

Convergence
This technique is wonderful with wildlife prints or any specialty fabric that you love.  You'll just love the results...and it is strip pieced so there are no small pieces.  You'll complete this with the first border in class.  $30

Crazy Curves
Learn how easy curves can be with little or no pinning and you'll love the results.  Add extra blocks to make this one as large as you want!  $25 

 

Wednesday, June 25 (10am-4pm) Daisies Do Tell
Everyone just loves these whimsical daisies.  You'll be making a curved seam and adding fusible appliqué daisies.  This is a fun quilt to make using batiks.  $35
Thursday, July 17 & 24 (10am-2pm) Dashing Around
The simplicity of this quilt makes it so charming with the old fashioned churn dash blocks.  $40
Friday, July 18 & 25 (12-4pm) Dot To Dot
Gather up your dot fabrics and make this unique quilt - learn fusible web appliqué along the way.  $40

Emerald City
This quilt has been a real hit - mostly because of the optical illusion the blocks create when using easy to blend batiks.  Have fun and be creative!  $40
Wednesday, August 13 (10am-4pm) Garden of Hearts
A quilt for any special occasion.  The pattern is only available with this class - a great opportunity to use multiple textures and color.  The model is made using red fabrics but the pattern suggests you try blues or greens.  Fun and whimsical. $25

An easy and fun way to learn needle turn appliqué.  You won't believe how easy this is to do!  $20

Nine Patch Pizzazz
A few simple rules and some great fabric and you'll be on your way to creating an inspiring quilt.  Some 9-patch blocks and some focus fabric and you're on your way!  $35
Friday, August 29 (10am-4pm) Radiant Suns
Learn a technique for doing curved piecing without pins!  You will see urves differently after making this one.  This method is fun and easy.  $35

Stained Glass
Your choice - a dragonfly or butterfly - and we'll show you how to create a beautiful mock-stained glass wall hanging.  $40
Monday, May 5 (10am-4pm) Standing Room Only
These penguins add a smile to everyone.  It is easy and fun to do.  It's made with fusible web and a machine blanket stitch - can't get must easier than that!  $40
Wednesday, April 9 & 23 (10am-2pm) Strips & Curves
This is a great project for learning value and color.  That's the hardest part and we'll help you with that! The quilt is completed by sewing strips and curves.  $35

A large tote for class projects or for a "weekend getaway" - this one is a good size, has lots of pockets, and holds a lot!  $35

Class models are displayed in classroom.  If you should have any questions regarding classes, please call the store. 
Supply lists will be given to you when the class fee is paid.  You will also receive a 10% discount coupon to use when you purchase your supplies - one per class and it can be used one time on your total purchase.
